Friends of Coal going to DC
September 15, 2010
Russell Park on Capitol Hill.
Participants coming from Appalachian Coal states to celebrate Coal Mining. The gathering will celebrate the American coal miner. The event begins at 9:30 a.m. with supporters attending from West Virginia, Kentucky, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Ohio.
"Coal is vital to all Kentuckians, especially in regards to the low-cost power it provides us. When the EPA and this administration targets Appalachian coal, it hurts everyone here in the Commonwealth of Kentucky,” said Bill Bissett, president of the Kentucky Coal Association. “On September 15, we need to make our voices heard - at the White House, in Congress, and throughout our nation's capitol that we will not sit quietly by while the federal government devastates Kentucky families and jobs. The Kentucky Coal Association is proud to join with other pro-coal groups and associations on this important day and make certain that the importance of Appalachian coal is remembered by our elect leaders."
There will be a bus leaving from the Lexington area for this rally---again the bus, hotel and food is being provided by the Friends of Coal---the contact person in Lexington is David Moss-- Anyone interested in attending the rally or joining the bus caravan is asked to call the Kentucky Coal Association at (859) 233.4743.
