KY We Surround Them Snake

~ by Kentucky Guesser:

The rattlesnake has been a symbol of rebellion against oppressive government and an American emblem of pride since 1751. One of the first political cartoons, penned by Benjamin Franklin during the French and Indian war, was of a snake cut into eight pieces. Each piece was to represent a colony with the motto below “Join or Die” which became the symbol of the importance of unity among the colonies.

During the American Revolution there came an influential symbol of revolt first known as the Gadsden Flag. It displayed a coiled up rattlesnake on a bright yellow field with the simple but powerful motto “Don’t Tread on Me”! The image was meant as a warning that America will attack if provoked. Using the image was to demonstrate the resolve and resolute spirit of Americans and the real threat to any that does not heed its warning.

This was perceived because of the nature of the indigenes North American rattlesnake. These snakes will sit in a coiled position and first offer a warning with a loud rattling noise when they feel threatened. Unless they are further provoked or stepped on they will not attack. They were also known though to be truly dangerous animals then once enticed and should be feared. This in essence was the original “Fear This” symbol that lived on for generations of patriots against overreaching government.

Once again we find ourselves at the necessity to rise up against an oppressive government that no longer fears the will of the people. In many ways we are at the same place Christopher Gadsden was when he said don’t tread on me. Unfortunately the time for warning may be behind us. Sadly I fear that even tough many of us may be just now coming to this cause, this new revolution has been raging for decades against the common person. We the people have been constantly provoked, stepped on, and liberties treaded upon and we are just now rising up to strike back.

We will not be ignored any longer. For this reason our snake can no longer be coiled in a defensive posture. Warnings have been disregarded and now we are ready to fight. When the rattlesnake attacks it is known to be unrelenting and will never surrender. They will see our resolve again and feel our teeth and toxic venom. We stand proud in front of the Common Wealth protecting her from its enemy and supporting its sovereignty. We are fully ready to strike now no longer only providing warnings but becoming active in taking back our country. This is our symbol that we are united. This is our emblem that we have been provoked. This is our cry to our enemies to not only “Fear This” but “Feel This”!!!!
