Kentucky 9/12 Project is going Green

Oklahoma Re-Leaf (Tree Replanting Project):

Charity is one of the core values of the 9/12 Project. We strive to lend a hand in restoring that sense of community of neighbors helping neighbors.

On Veteran's Day weekend 9/12 Projects groups from around the country will come together to help the communities of Newcastle, Moore, and Shawnee in Oklahoma, who received devastating damage from the tornado outbreak back in May. People come out and lend a hand and rally together to help out those in need the days following these disasters and the media is running non-stop coverage. Truth is there is as much need the months following when everyone has gone back to their daily routine and the story of a community trying to rebuild is forgotten.

The 9/12 Project has teamed up with the Oklahoma Tree Bank Foundation that serves schools, churches, and communities within the state. The Tree Bank Foundation has created the Tornado Re-Leaf project that involves replanting trees that have been removed from the tornado damage. Trees are a valuable part of rebuilding a community; they provide a visible sense of rebirth and hope for areas that saw so much devastation. The Tornado Re-Leaf goal is to plant close to 1,000 trees. The foundation is currently taking donations to purchase 2 1/2" diameters trees. The Oklahoma Nursery and Landscape Association and the Oklahoma Forestry Service are also helping by providing trees and will be assisting in the maintenance of the planted trees.

If you are unable to travel to Oklahoma, you can still help. Please send a donation to the Tree Bank Foundation by contacting Nicki Largent, Executive Director, at (405) 630-9152 or visit their website - http://www.thetreebank.org/tree-projects/tornado-re-leaf/ .

OR if you would like to be part of this tree planting party - If you would like to come out to help, have fun, and connect to one another please contact either Vince Wonderlich at vince.wonderlich@gmail.com or Carma Neta Morris at smdptln@gmail.com who leads the Oklahoma City 9/12 Project for more information.
