Liberty Groups Fight Back - KY 9/12 v IRS Update 3-10
THANKS TO YOU, we are making a difference and shining a beacon of truth. As I have said this is not about the Kentucky 9/12 Project, (despite what some bloggers may say) this is not completely about a not for profit status, and defiantly not about growing our numbers or pandering to a base. This is taking a principled stance regardless of political affiliation or consequences. This is standing united for liberties and the rights of citizens. Thankfully you get it and thankfully because of your efforts others are now as well.
I have been personally called by Mitch McConnell’s office saying they have been overwhelmed with calls and he will be helping on the Senate side to get answers on this.
Senator and oversight Chairmen Charles Boustany (R-LA) has sent a letter on behalf of the Ways and Means committee demanding answers from the IRS on their inquiries into our tax exempt status. View letter here:
We have word the House side may act on this soon with Congressmen Jim Jordon (R-OH) and others leading the way.
We are proud of local candidates for standing with us as well and thank Thomas Massie Republican Candidate for US Congressional 4th District for his statement. We thank him for his leadership and being on the right side of the Constitution. (his statement below)
There are others that continue to come out on our behalf but more importantly on behalf of citizens and on behalf of you. This fight is still far from over, but for now take pride in what you have already accomplished and thank you again for what you are doing.
From Thomas Massie site
At a recent event, Fourth District Congressional candidate Thomas Massie was asked about the Internal Revenue Service's (IRS) long delayed information request of the Kentucky 912 Project and other Liberty groups from across the country related to their non-profit tax-exempt applications. The unusual IRS demand requires these organizations to provide names of all volunteers, contributors, their family members, and speakers, as well as screen shots of web pages operated by the organizations and FaceBook posts. The IRS inquiry further requires organizations to state whether their members had been candidates for political office or would ever be candidates for political office.
Massie responded, "At the very core of our representative republic exists the right to peacefully assemble to debate and discuss the issues of the day. Tea parties, 912 groups, and other liberty oriented organizations have contributed immensely to the national dialogue. The recent actions of the IRS smack of an attempt to silence those of our citizenry who are most vocal about defending our rights."
"The Constitution protects the natural God given rights of all citizens from an obtrusive and overbearing government. As your next 4th District Congressman I will work diligently to uphold our Constitution."
