Mob Rules for 8/28
You are naive if you believe the seeds are not being planted. There are dangerous elements on both extremes and some want nothing more than to cause chaos and paint the picture of the narrative they have already created. In these challenging times we must keep focused, remain optimistic, and remember the principles that guide our lives. We need not only do the right thing now more than ever, but we must go above and beyond. This is not for the nay sayers and media because they have their agenda and will not be swayed. This is not for anyone else; you must do this for yourself! While a large non-violent rally on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial will send a resounding statement, what you do must be for yourself.
Looking at the Pledge Martin Luther King provided I do not believe it was for the press or those that did not understand, it was to ingrain in each who was involved an ideal, goal, and dream. The principles we promote are not for those on the outside to read to better understand who we are but for each of us to embody and follow. Things may get tough in DC and in the months to come, you need a foundation, a belief in your gut of the right thing to do, and a plan when faced with violence or adversity.
~Pray for the right state of mind, for patience and the right words, and pray for the ones that disagree with us as well. This should be done before, during, and after.
~Be optimistic. What we are doing is working, people are listening, America is waking up. The harder it gets the more we know what we are doing is having an effect.
~Non-violence is not the easy way but the right way. Remember as Martin Luther King said we are not seeking to win but justice and reconciliation. This is never accomplished through violence.
~Do not be intimidated and do not unnecessarily intimidate others that disagree with us. Do not back down when you are right but try always to avoid conflict if not needed.
~Be respectful. Remember it is usually not important to the person you are screaming at it is the person watching you scream at them. Besides it is the right thing to do…
~Be orderly and law biding. Chaos only begets chaos. This is used only by those you have no point of order to stand on. We have everything to stand on and stand for.
~Bring cameras, IPhones, anything to record. Be ready quickly if anything does occur to record it to protect the truth.
~Be vigilant and be cautious. Keep up the pressure, keep up the fight, but do not become reckless and do keep up the watchful eye.
~Facts are a beautiful thing even if they never use or agree with them. Name calling, personal attacks, and untruths does not accomplish anything. Be educated, clear, and truthful.
~Do not let the other side frame who we are or what we are doing. We should take little time defending what we are not and spend much time defending what is right.
Follow the link to the Pledge of Nonviolence that Martin Luther King, Jr. asked those who believed in his message to abide by as well as his core principles of nonviolence.
Glenn is asking you to make the same commitment to nonviolence and give you the opportunity to make that pledge public by having you ”sign” a pledge.
