faith, hope, and CHARITY
Charity: “But now we still have faith, hope, love, these three; and the greatest of these is love.” 1 Corinthians 13:13 (English Standard). The greatest of these is Charity. Faith is our foundation, hope is the building blocks, but it is charity is the mortar and substances that binds this nation together. Remember that day after September 11, 2001 when we were not separated by partisan politics. The day after 9/11 when we were all 9/12ers united as Americans. For a least a day there was not red states or blue states, Democrats or Republicans, African-Americans, Hispanic-Americans. We stripped away the hyphens and forgot indent politics and came together. Where is that country, where is that love and unity with your neighbor. We must restore daily not only our faith and hope but charity and love.
It is imperative that we come together and meet with like minded people and it is easy to find love and tolerance for other 9/12ers and your friends. But have you shown charity to an opponent or forgiveness for an enemy? Love wants the best for your children and family and the people closest to you, unconditional love wants the best for all people. Charity looks beyond the color of someone’s skin to the character of the person and finds unity in faith and hope. We are Americans together, charity and love does not stop with a person’s political persuasion or candidates they support.
Local meetings and tea parties are great and we love coming together with brothers and sisters. We have many great church members but what we need now more than ever is some missionaries. What we need is charity towards the people not yet in our fold. Everyone needs to begin reaching out to your neighbors, co-workers, and strangers. We do not want to leave anybody behind. We need to start communicating to people we may feel have different political views as us. This is about Liberty and principles and this is about love that binds us. This is about getting everybody on board the boat standing arm and arm.
Begin shouting from the rooftops and start wakening up the unlikely. Get the message out by any means. Start your own blog and let us know so we can link to it, send out messages on Facebook, twitter, or just talk with someone. Invite everyone you meet out to the next 9/12 meeting or to become a member. Charity is not always monetary but a message of hope and respect to all men.
“The best thing to give to your enemy is forgiveness; to an opponent, tolerance; to a friend, your heart; to your child, a good example; to a father, deference; to your mother, conduct that will make her proud of you; to yourself, respect; to all men, charity.” – Benjamin Franklin
Keep preparing your lifeboats, keep praying and have faith, keep hope strong and working towards restoring principles and values, but remember the greatest of these is charity. If our nation’s ship continues sinking there will be a time when many that have been opposing you will begin to come over and look for direction. Please do this one thing alone; welcome them. Charity not only says forgiveness but has a true desire to say welcome. Not I told you so or you were wrong but welcome here is an oar and start paddling.
“We're not tired. We're going to keep on fighting this thing. We know that they seek to fundamentally transform America. We will fight it with everything in us — not with bullets, not with guns, but with faith, hope and charity.” – Glenn Beck
