KY 9/12 on Issues

Everyone has an issue that is most important to them. We are encouraged that there are watchdogs for various issues and can provide a level of expertise for the group. But much like our stance on candidates similar beliefs are prevalent when it comes to advocacy for particular issues. We shall continue to focus more on the person and not issues. That said when action on current legislation does continue to arise we will bring it to the group and encourage action.

With KY 9/12's resolute support for the Constitution and its Bill of Rights, issues like the 2nd Amendment or a simplified tax code are common ground for most members. But the same question arises as we have with political candidates: Does the group have an "official" position on these issues?

While the majority of KY 9/12'ers are strong proponents of an individual's right to own firearms, existing organizations such as the National Rifle Association focus on the 2nd Amendment and disseminate its necessity better than anyone. KY 9/12 is passionate about the Bill of Rights in total, and considers each amendment equally deserving of open discussion and defense.

When federal income tax was created in the early 20th century, tax laws were covered on 14 pages and only 4 forms were available, but Congress after Congress added layer upon layer until, today, tax laws require 70,000 pages and forms now exceed 4,000. As a humorist once said, "The mistakes made by Congress wouldn't be so bad if the next Congress didn't keep trying to correct them." In short, it seems that very few like the tax system. Most KY 9/12 members view the current tax code's focus on redistribution of wealth as socialist in its aim and hope to see the U.S. Congress adopt a more fair method which doesn't penalize production.

KY 9/12 appreciates organizations like Fair Tax and NRA without intending to equal their focus on the single issues each are devoted toward.
