Today, one of the most serious challenges in meeting Kentucky’s budget for 2010-2011 is that of unfunded federal mandates. Kentucky and other states are increasingly watching the federal government overstep its boundaries by continuing to force states to comply with mandates. Many of these mandates either fail to provide adequate funding for programs that are proposed or come with limited funds and a costly price tag to the states. Additionally, the federal government continues to deprive states of funding unless states act on certain measures. The various states’ spending proposals, programs, and laws should not be dictated by the federal government.
Thank you in advance for your attention. I have every expectation that you will do right by your constituents and support this measure to remind the federal government of its role as intended by the founders and outlined in the U.S. Constitution.
